Lesson 5.1 — What Is OBS and Why Might You Use It?
Purpose: This lesson introduces OBS Studio and how it can be used to enhance your Warrior Fellowship meetings. You’ll learn what it is, why you might want to use it, and what resources are available if you want to go deeper.
What Is OBS?
OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) is a free desktop app that helps you:
- Stream your meeting to YouTube or Facebook
- Record your screen or video room
- Add overlays, scriptures, or teaching slides
- Create polished layouts for outreach or replay
OBS is used by churches, livestreamers, and digital ministries around the world. You don’t need it for a simple meeting, but if you want to take your fellowship experience further, OBS gives you the tools.
Why You Might Want to Use OBS
- To livestream your fellowship to a public audience
- To present slides or scriptures side-by-side with your camera
- To record your fellowship for replay or training
- To use a more branded, visual format for teaching or prayer
Note: You can still use the basic system with just your meeting link and screen share. OBS is entirely optional and for those who want to go deeper or lead in larger outreach settings.
What We Provide for Advanced Users
To help you avoid technical setup, we provide:
- Pre-formatted OBS templates: ready-to-import scene collections
- Overlays and graphics: including lower-thirds and title banners
- Optimized layouts: for teaching, dual speaker, or scripture + camera
- Preset audio settings: to simplify mixing your mic and system sounds
You can import these into OBS with one file and begin streaming or recording within minutes.
Advanced Use Cases (Optional)
- Multi-camera and in-person fellowship broadcasting
- Streaming to multiple platforms simultaneously
- Scene transitions and branding
- Embedded scripture or video inside your stream
