Lesson 3.1 — Opening the Room

As the Director, you’ll open the video room before your group meeting starts. This gives you a few minutes to check your screen share, welcome people as they arrive, and set the tone.

In this lesson:

  • When and how to launch your room (5–10 minutes before the meeting starts)

  • Welcoming guests with a friendly chat or on-screen greeting

  • Encouraging members to bring a snack or coffee if joining from home

📌 Let your group know they can chat and connect while waiting — just like arriving early for a real meeting.

🧭 Next: Learn how to manage participants and chat tools as a host.

Lesson 3.1 — Opening the Room

Purpose: This lesson shows you how to start your meeting room and open the weekly fellowship. You’ll learn where to log in, how to greet your group, and how to prepare the video tab so the room flows smoothly.

What It Means to “Open the Room” as Director

Opening the room isn’t just technical—it’s spiritual leadership. You’re creating a safe, welcoming, and Spirit-led space for fellowship, teaching, prayer, and outreach.

Step 1: Log In and Enter the Room with Full Controls

  • Go to your /meeting/ page (example: https://warriors.faithtrainers.com/mygroup/meeting/).
  • Make sure you are logged in to your account.
  • Click “Join Meeting” and allow camera and microphone access when prompted.

When logged in, you'll have host-level controls:

  • Mute/unmute attendees
  • Turn off participant video if needed
  • Remove someone from the room if necessary
  • Spotlight a speaker or co-host
  • Share your screen or browser tab

Step 2: Prepare the Weekly Video for Screen Share

  • Scroll to the sidebar and open the weekly video in a new tab.
  • Let the video load completely before the meeting begins.
  • When it’s time, share your screen and play the video from that tab.

Tip: When screen sharing, be sure to check “Share audio.”

Step 3: Greet Attendees and Set the Tone

Welcome each guest warmly. Here’s a suggested greeting:

“Welcome everyone! We’re so glad you’re here. In a few minutes, we’ll start the weekly video from Kevin. After that, we’ll go over some discussion questions and pray for each other. Grab a snack or get comfortable—there’s no pressure here.”

If it’s someone’s first time:

  • Let them know there’s no pressure to speak.
  • Explain the simple structure: video → PDF → prayer.

Step 4: Use Your Director Controls Wisely

As host, you can:

  • Mute background noise
  • Spotlight yourself or a co-host
  • Monitor and respond in the chat (if enabled)
  • Post the PDF link if needed
  • Gently remove or redirect anyone being disruptive or off-topic

Step 5: Guide the Meeting Flow

You’re not teaching—but you are leading. Keep the flow smooth and calm:

  1. Play the video
  2. Share and discuss the PDF
  3. Pray together
  4. Mention any outreach ideas or reminders for next week
