Lesson 3.3 — Troubleshooting
Purpose: This lesson helps you solve the most common problems during your weekly meeting. We’ll show you how to fix audio, video, or display issues, and what to do if something isn’t working.
1. Director Controls Not Visible
Symptoms: You join the room but can't mute others, spotlight anyone, or share your screen.
Fix:
- Log in to your Director account before entering the room.
- Join the room from your
/meeting/page while logged in. - If you appear as a viewer, log out, log back in, and rejoin from your dashboard link.
2. Camera or Microphone Not Working
Symptoms: Your video or audio is missing or blocked.
Fixes:
- Refresh the page and re-allow browser permissions.
- Click the lock icon in your browser → Site settings → Allow camera and mic.
- Close Zoom, Teams, or other apps using your camera in the background.
3. Video Doesn’t Play Properly When Shared
Symptoms: Participants hear no sound or the video doesn't play.
Fixes:
- Open the video in a separate browser tab before the meeting.
- When screen sharing, select only the video tab.
- Be sure to check “Share system audio” when screen sharing.
Tip: Test your video screen share before guests join.
4. Echo or Audio Feedback
Symptoms: You hear echoes or looping sound.
Fixes:
- Ask participants to wear headphones.
- Mute attendees who aren’t speaking.
- Use your host controls to manage sound.
5. Room Doesn’t Load or Respond
Symptoms: No video window or unresponsive controls.
Fixes:
- Refresh the page.
- Try Chrome or Edge browsers.
- Rotate mobile devices to landscape.
- Ensure the page is loaded over HTTPS.
6. Weekly Video or PDF Sidebar Doesn’t Appear
Fixes:
- Refresh and allow a few seconds for content to load.
- Try viewing on desktop or download from the PDF Library.
- Contact support if content is missing for the week.
7. Internet or Device Performance Issues
Fixes:
- Ask participants to turn off their cameras to save bandwidth.
- Close extra apps, tabs, or downloads.
- Switch to a stable Wi-Fi network if available.
8. Leaving the Room Tab Open Causes Problems
Symptoms: Video or controls don’t reset properly next time.
Fix: Ask participants (and yourself) to fully close the room tab or browser when the meeting ends. Starting fresh each week prevents login or display errors.
Director Best Practices
- Test camera, mic, screen share, and video tab before each meeting.
- Join 10 minutes early to fix issues privately.
- Stay calm—your tone sets the group’s atmosphere.
- Be ready to adapt with prayer, conversation, or manual sharing if needed.
Backup Plan: If Things Really Break
- Email or paste the video link in the chat.
- Share the PDF download or read aloud from your screen.
- Continue with prayer and discussion from memory.
